200+ mileage does not necessarily indicate the need for an overhaul of the engine, and a low mileage does not guarantee a good engine condition. The main and most important thing in this is the regularity of maintenance. The engine, in which the oil and filters were frequently and regularly changed and other necessary operations were carried out in a timely manner, will work for a long time and reliably. In contrast, if basic maintenance procedures are performed irregularly and poorly, the engine may need to be overhauled even at relatively low mileage. Increased oil consumption indicates that piston rings, valve stem seals and / or valve guides need attention.

Before making a conclusion about the reasons for the increased oil consumption, make sure that no oil leaks are to blame. To get an idea of the possible cause of the problem, check the compression as described in paragraph 3. Also perform the vacuum checks under various conditions. Check the oil pressure with a pressure gauge screwed in instead of the emergency oil pressure sensor and compare with the values prescribed by the Specifications. If it is too low, the main or connecting rod bearings or oil pump may be worn.
