Toyota automatic transmission problems

OVERHEATING TOYOTA

Like any high-tech unit, Toyota's automatic transmission is reliable, but requires proper care and maintenance. If they are absent, the owner may be faced with a lack of traction during acceleration. Despite the fact that the revs of the tachometer will increase, there will be no acceleration. In addition, there may be delays when downshifting.

Why is the automatic transmission not picking up speed?

Experts identify a number of reasons for the failure. They relate to various elements of the vehicle:

Internal combustion engine Malfunctions in the ignition system, fuel supply, gas distribution.

Braking system Brake pad wedging.

Automatic transmission

It can slip for the following reasons:

  • The use of transmission oil of inadequate quality, its untimely replacement;
  • Low oil level;
  • The filter is clogged, needs to be replaced;
  • Malfunction of the clutches of the box;
  • Valve body channels are clogged or damaged;
  • The hydraulic system is malfunctioning;
  • Broken valves (solenoids);
  • The pump needs to be replaced;
  • Electronic components are out of order.

Why does the car jerk when shifting gears?

Jerks are provoked by the unstable operation of the engine due to an uneven supply of the fuel mixture

For early models, the reasons are as follows:

  • Using poor quality spark plugs;
  • Unstable cylinder operation.

For modern injection cars, the reasons are as follows:

  • Failure of the speed and idle sensors, leading to failures in the algorithms of the on-board computer and the impossibility of maintaining a stable rhythm of the internal combustion engine, respectively;
  • Dirty intake nozzles and lack of fuel in the combustion chamber;
  • Deterioration of cables, provoking delays and misfiring of the fuel mixture.

Manual gearbox jerks

Occurs through the fault of the driver, who:

  • Unsuccessfully chooses the moment of gear shifting and pressing the clutch pedal;
  • Shifts to high gear too slowly;
  • Steps on the gas very sharply after shifting into high gear.

Automatic transmission jerks

  • Lack of regular maintenance and oil change, which during operation loses its original properties and becomes viscous;
  • Low ambient temperature and movement without preliminary warming up of the internal combustion engine and automatic transmission;
  • Low oil level in the gearbox.

    have a 2003 corolla LE and been having issue with reverse gear.
    There's delay in reverse gear at cold temperature have to rev more before.
    The reverse only work better when car reach maximum temperature.
    have changed the transmission oil with T-IV nine months ago and improved a bit but recently i stated experiencing it again. The drive gears are ok . the problem is with the delay reverse.
    I did a scan and had P0773 code. ( shift solenoid valve SL circuit)
